As a former Guardsman, much of my artwork has been influenced by my time earning the Queen’s Shilling. With a trail of BLUE-RED-BLUE running through much of my artwork, for the purpose of this website I’ve collectively called this work my GUARDS COLLECTION.
While my designs were once drawn in pencil or ink with the occasional splash of colour, these days the computer is my go-to tool of choice. In posting my artwork, most will be shown as pure digital images, with some destined to appear on glass as part of a unique collection.
All my designs are Vector based. That simply means each drawing is created by a series of lines and curves rather than dots. As a result, each drawing can be manipulated without loss of definition, an essential criteria when later wishing to scale original artwork for a particular application.
With a Vector composition, accuracy and weight of line is one thing, but for any of my drawings to work, particularly on glass, patience is a must. Getting it wrong to get it right, each drawing is a journey of discovery. At the end of the day, nothing is ever just back and white.
